Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Data Scientist Intern to support our analytics team. The ideal candidate is passionate about data, eager to learn, and ready to work on impactful projects that influence real business outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze large-scale datasets to uncover insights and trends, particularly in the area of credit risk
  • Develop and monitor statistical and machine learning models used for key business decisions
  • Collaborate with senior data scientists to build mathematical models that support experimental data and business hypotheses
  • Design software tools, reports, and analyses to support both production and development operations
  • Support the management of non-production data workflows
  • Collaborate with the Insights team on technical research and innovation initiatives
  • Experiment with and evaluate different technologies to validate hypotheses and enhance existing systems
  • Create and demonstrate Proof of Concept (PoC) solutions for leadership using sandbox environments
  • Deliver high-quality, research-backed solutions under tight deadlines
  • Segment users and analyze performance across different customer profiles

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics)
  • Master’s or PhD (completed or in progress) preferred — ideally with graduation between December 2017 and August 2018 from Johns Hopkins University
  • Prior internship or work experience in data analytics, machine learning, or data science preferred
  • Strong foundation in predictive analytics, pattern recognition, and data mining
  • Experience applying statistical and machine learning techniques such as segmentation, association analysis, and predictive modeling
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in an agile team environment
  • Excellent communication skills and a problem-solving mindset
