Position Overview:
We are looking for a skilled and analytical Actuary to join our remote team. This role involves using statistical and mathematical modeling to analyze risk and support data-driven decision-making. You’ll work closely with finance, underwriting, product, and executive teams to inform pricing strategies, reserve analyses, and long-term risk management initiatives.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, business-minded, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced, fully remote environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain actuarial models to assess risk and forecast outcomes.
- Perform pricing, reserving, and profitability analysis for products and services.
- Analyze data trends to support product development, underwriting, and financial strategies.
- Present clear, actionable insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including finance, analytics, and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and actuarial standards of practice.
- Monitor industry trends and emerging risks affecting the organization.
- Support or lead filings with state insurance departments (as applicable).
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or a related field.
- 2–7+ years of actuarial experience in insurance, consulting, or related fields.
- Strong progress toward actuarial credentials (e.g., ASA or near-ASA; FSA a plus).
- Proficiency in actuarial tools and software (e.g., Excel, SQL, R, Python, SAS, or VBA).
- Solid understanding of insurance products (e.g., life, health, property & casualty, annuities).
- Excellent problem-solving and quantitative analysis skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities in a remote work environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- ASA or FSA designation (or equivalent international credentials).
- Experience in health, life, or P&C actuarial domains.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (e.g., NAIC, ACA, IFRS 17, Solvency II).
- Knowledge of reserving methods (e.g., chain ladder, Bornhuetter-Ferguson).
- Experience with machine learning, data visualization, or predictive analytics tools.
