Responsibilities for data scientist intern
- Mining vast amounts of data to identify trends in credit risk
- Build statistical models to form the foundation of business decisions and regularly monitor the performance of those models so corrective action can be taken
- Work under the supervision of a senior team member to create a mathematical model to support the observed experimental data for discovery phase analysis
- Develop software, analyses and reports to support both production and development operations
- Manage non-production data flow
- Working with Insights team staff on a variety of technical initiatives
- Experimenting with different combinations of our existing technology to prove or disprove hypotheses
- Demonstrating technology proof-of-concepts (POCs) by assembling bits of technology in a virtual sandbox environment that will allow leadership to see a potential piece of technology working with our existing systems
- Work against fixed timelines and your success will be measured by the ability to deliver solutions matching the performance of top notch research prototypes
- Establish user segment profiles and assess segment performance
Qualifications for data scientist intern
- Bachelor’s degree required in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, Physics
- Intern or work experience with predictive analytics, pattern recognition, or data mining/data analysis preferred
- Self-motivated, work well both independently and as part of an agile team
- Apply various statistical and machine learning techniques to develop segmentations, association analysis, predictive models
- As an Intern data scientists will join a small team and participate as a group in projects executed on by the NPD group as a whole
- Have obtained or will obtain a master’s or PhD degree in a quantitative field of study between December 2017 and August 2018 from Johns Hopkins University
