Job Summary

We are seeking a Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, secure, and optimize databases for high availability and performance. The ideal candidate will have experience in database management, performance tuning, backup & recovery, and SQL query optimization.

This role is open to freshers eager to start a career in database management as well as experienced professionals looking to advance in database administration.


Key Responsibilities

1. Database Installation & Configuration

  • Install, configure, and upgrade database servers (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, etc.).
  • Ensure databases are optimized for speed, reliability, and security.

2. Performance Tuning & Optimization

  • Monitor database performance, index tuning, and query optimization.
  • Implement caching, partitioning, and load balancing techniques.
  • Troubleshoot slow queries and database bottlenecks.

3. Backup & Disaster Recovery

  • Develop and maintain backup & recovery strategies to prevent data loss.
  • Ensure databases comply with disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Test database restores and failover mechanisms regularly.

4. Security & Compliance Management

  • Implement database security policies, user roles, and access controls.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, SOC2, and other data security regulations.
  • Monitor for unauthorized access, threats, and vulnerabilities.

5. Database Maintenance & Automation

  • Automate routine DBA tasks using scripts and database management tools.
  • Perform regular database health checks and integrity tests.
  • Work closely with developers, DevOps, and IT teams to optimize workflows.

Requirements

Experience Level

  • Fresher: Strong understanding of databases and SQL fundamentals.
  • Experienced (1-3+ years): Hands-on experience with database performance tuning, security, and high-availability architectures.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in SQL, NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.).
  • Knowledge of database replication, clustering, and sharding.
  • Experience with cloud databases (AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL, Azure SQL, etc.).
  • Familiarity with database monitoring tools (Nagios, SolarWinds, New Relic, etc.).
  • Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell are a plus.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Certifications such as Oracle DBA, Microsoft SQL Server DBA, AWS Database Specialty are a plus.

Salary & Benefits

  • Entry-Level (Fresher): $70,000–$90,000 per year
  • Experienced (1-3+ years): $90,000–$130,000 per year
